What are meridians and how can they impact me?
They are channels of energy that flow throughout the body. In Traditional Chinese Medicine this energy flow is called Qi.
They are used in many different therapies such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Tapping, Tai Chi and of course Kinesiology.
If there is a block (stuck energy) in a meridian this impacts the flow and how the meridian functions. Each meridian impacts different muscles and organs around the body as well as different emotions. Which is why the meridians can affect us physically and emotionally.
There are 14 main meridians that we work on in kinesiology. By stimulating a meridian, we are helping to move stuck energy and create the right flow.
Meridians were first discovered in China thousands of years ago when people noticed that pressing on particular points on the body relieved pain. This was the development of acupressure. Acupuncture came about after this due to soldiers being hit with arrows or swords and finding their ailments would clear.
While the existence of meridians has been known about for thousands of years it is only in the last few years, they have discovered it to be a physical structure known as the primo vascular system. This system impacts the cardiovascular, immune, hormonal and nervous systems. You can see why working with the meridians can have such a powerful effect.
During a session I often start by asking the body which meridian is being affected and therefore needs support to bring it back in to balance.
As the meridians are connected to muscles, I can use the muscles as biofeedback to ask what is needed.
When events happen to us, whether they are physical, nutritional, emotional, or spiritual, if they are unresolved because we are unaware, don’t know how deal with them, or don’t have the time, they get stored in the meridian system. During the session we are asking what is required to help resolve the situation and allow the meridian to release them and function freely.
